Main Objectives: Supporting Khashuri Municipality to meet the national legal and policy requirements in waste management through assisting them in updating Municipal Waste Management Plan (MWMP) and piloting a separate waste collection system in one of the urban settlements of the municipality.

Main Results:

Result 1: Recommendations on the MWMP based on European experience;

Result 2: Developed infrastructure (waste bins for plastic waste) in Surami settlement and providing the scheme for separate collection and recycling considering existing national capacities of the municipality and recycling companies in Georgia

Result 3: Increased awareness and capacity of the municipality through educational and information dissemination campaign

Main Objectives: The overall objective of the project is to support the development of the Solid Waste Management System in regions of Kakheti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti in order to improve the general sanitary conditions and avoid negative impacts on natural resources, environment and human health. In particular the project aims to support the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia (SWMCG) in design and supervision of the construction of waste disposal infrastructure, transfer stations as well as closure of the existing landfills in the above mentioned two regions of Georgia. It also supports waste separation at source and composting practices.

Main Results:

Result 1:  Scoping and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Reports for the construction of the Regional landfills in Kakheti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regions

Result 2: Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP)

Result 3: Occupational Health & Safety Plans (OHS)

Result 4: Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) and Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP)
