Sector: Environment/Energy Efficiency/Green Energy
Location of Implementation: Georgia
Period of Implementation: September 2022 – June 2024
Name of Donor: The IKI Small Grants programme led by the GIZ and is financed by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUV)
Project/Activity Partners: N/A
Main Objectives:

To spread green energy and energy efficiency solutions among small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the hospitality sector in Georgia. Within the project GEO supports informed decision-making by enhancing enterprises’ knowledge about green energy and energy efficiency (GEEE) solutions and low-cost funding opportunities. Direct beneficiaries of the project are around 500 small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in hospitality business in two regions of Georgia – the Adjara A/R and Mtskheta-Mtianeti.

Main Results:

Result 1:  GEO provides a catalogue of GEEE solutions available in Georgia and local funding opportunities. The catalogue informs about costs for procurement, installation, maintenance and operation of the applicable technology. It includes information on suppliers of technologies/materials currently operating on the Georgian market, energy auditors and existing funding opportunities.
Result 2:  GEO ensures outreach to many small and medium-sized enterprises by communication activities over media websites, TV and social media. The project organizes two workshops for up to 30 enterprises per workshop and two forums for up to 100 participants per forum to discuss GEEE solutions, economic benefits, and available financial assistance.
Result 3:  GEO selects and implements demonstration projects in different municipalities of the selected two regions of Georgia.
