Main Results:

Result 1: Draft Feasibility Study report and Updated Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Report developed.
Result 2. Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and Resettlement Framework Policy (RFP) established.
Result 3. Project implementation structure and manuals outlining procedures, Project Procurement Plan and ToRs .

Main Objectives: Increase knowledge and understanding on the technical and economical requirements related to implementation of the EU 91/271/EEC Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive in Georgia. The specific objectives of the project relate to development and testing of the Methodology for establishment of the sensitive areas in the river basins and development and testing of the Methodology for delineation of the agglomerations in river basins in Georgia.

Main Results:

Result 1: Detailed analysis of the current state of the surface water quality status related to nitrogen and phosphorus contents and water quality data availability in Georgia.

Result 2: Methodology for the establishment of sensitive areas in the river basin districts in Georgia.

Result 3: Tested Methodology for the establishment of sensitive areas in pilot river basin in Georgia

Result 4: Methodology for the delineation of the agglomerations in Georgia according the EU Directive 91/271/EEC (three categories).

Result 5: Delineation of the agglomerations according the methodology (2.1) in pilot river basin in Georgia

Result 6: Calibration of mathematical models on the Georgian situation to calculate the investment costs for the construction of the UWWT plants and canalization for three categories of agglomeration taking into account the sensitive areas.

Main Objectives: 1)  Assessment of industrial water-use in the pilot area (in Aragvi River Basin) and exploration of usage of water-efficient and wastewater treatment technologies in the Aragvi River Basin  2)  Awareness raising of the different water-user groups and other relevant stakeholders (GOG agencies, private sector, NGOs, etc.) about innovative approaches and technologies in water recycling and wastewater treatment  3) Promotion of use of the innovative cost-effective technologies to ensure proper and rational allocation of clean and safe water resources
Main Results:

Result 1: Database of existing enterprises in the Aragvi River Basin, including information on pollution source, location, character, etc.

Result 2: Report on industrial water use in the Aragvi River Basin including applied water treatment and water re-use technologies if any

Result 3: Handbook on existing best practices and innovative wastewater treatment/water re-use technologies applied in different countries

Result 4: Increased Awareness among the key stakeholders including the state agencies, private sector, consulting companies, etc on existing and expected water related obligations stipulated by the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA) and the national legislation, as well as on project findings and innovative technologies potentially applicable in Georgia
